Cape Avlaka -Turkey westernmost point, including islands

Cape Avlaka, also called İncirburnu, is situated on Gokceada island, known as Imbros until 1970, the largest island in Turkey. Located in the Bay of Saros in the Aegean sea, it belongs to the province of Canakkale and on to mid last century it was mainly inhabited by Greeks.

In fact, according to classical mythology, the palace of Thetis, mother of Achilles, hero of the Trojan War, was between Imbros and Samothrace. In the Iliad, Homer tells us:

"There is a vast cave in the depths of the deep sea between Imbros and the steep Tenedos. Upon reaching it, Poseidon stopped his horses, freed them from the car and fed them divine pastures, locking their legs with gold indestructible hardware, so that without leaving this place they’d await his return ... ".

This can give you an idea of the mythical place you'll discover when conquering this MOSTPOINT.
