Drake Passage - Junction between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans

Drake Passage - Junction between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans

A rough Mostpoint, only suitable for seasoned sailors. It is the southernmost route connecting the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, and it is also the shortest crossing route between the Antarctic lands and the rest of the planet. The turbulent waters of the Drake Passage, which at its narrowest are about 850 km / 93 mi wide, are considered the most dangerous on earth, suffering permanent scourge of severe storms and winds that can cause huge and complicated waves.

What else is there
The Voyage pays off not only in achieving a great personal challenge but also to enjoy nature at its best: you will see whales, dolphins and countless examples of the most emblematic birds of those confines, as the penguin, Antarctic sea abanto or albatross. If you stop at Cape Horn, you can add another valuable Mostpoint to your profile because it is the southernmost continental point of the planet excluding Antarctica. And there are two other Mostpoints waiting for you at those latitudes: Ushuaia (Tierra del Fuego, Argentina), the southernmost city in the world; and Cape Froward (Brunswick Peninsula, Chile), the southernmost point of continental South America.

Notes
The Antarctic seamounts, submerged under the Drake Passage, are crucial in regulating Earth's climate, as they help to minimize the impact of the carbon dioxide that we release into the atmosphere.
