Mount Everest - Highest peak on earth

With its impressive 8,848 m (29,029 ft), Mt Everest is located between Nepal and China. In the first country this mountain is known as Sagarmatha ("The front of heaven") and the second as Chomolungma ("Mother of the Universe"). Its international name comes from the Welsh geographer George Everest. However the first to identify this peak as the highest of the land was the Indian mathematician and surveyor Radhanath Sikdar. This is a landform in motion due to tectonic movements in South Asia. Its counterpart is the Challenger Deep, the lowest point on earth, located in the Pacific Ocean, specifically near the Mariana Islands. The Everest offers several different climbing routes. Two main ones of which technically the simplest and most frequented is the Way of the South Col (from Nepal). The second is the Way of North Col (from Tibet).

What else is there
Although affected by the earthquake of April 25, 2015, the Annapurna Conservation Area offers exciting trekking routes, some are Mostpoints which you can also search for here. If you don´t find yours you may propose it as a Mostpoint. Of course one of these routes is to the Everest base camp. Far from the world and close, very close to heaven, these places inhabited by Sherpas, where roads do not exist, are only suitable for seasoned mountaineers.

January is the coldest month, with an average temperature at the peak of -36 ° C and can reach -60 ° C. July is the warmest month, with average -20 at the top. However, most attempts to conquer conducted between April and May, time when the wind speed is reduced at higher elevations.
