Scafell Sky Race

The Scafell Sky Race means Skyrunning in the Lake District, one of the most spectacular natural areas of England. What skyrunning lover can resist this? The registration for the 40 km race, including 2800 m altitude, is in Ambleside. From there you will be taken to Seathwaite Valley and the  start is at Seathwaite Farm. You pass the beautiful Sour Milk Gill waterfalls, through the Gillercomb Valley and the summit of Green Cable to the first station at Windy Cap. Through the "Corridor Route", a classic climbing route of the Scafell mountains, you reach the highest point of England, Scafell Pike which is also an emblematic MOSTPOINT. From there passing Esk Pike through the Great Langdale Valley, over the 'Climbers Traverse” under Cambridge to reach Great Langdale. Here, in the famous 'Old Dungeon Ghyll' pub, is the only place for victualling on this trail. From the top of Harrison Stickle you arrive at the northern end of the Great Langdale Valley, then to the top of Silver Howe and Loughrigg Fell, along Loughrigg Common to reach "Lily Tarn”, where the final descent to Ambleside starts. The finish is at the University of Cumbria, Ambleside Campus.

What else is there
The spectacular Lake District National Park offers many things for families and young and old. Walking, cycling, watersports on the lakes ... Don´t forget to visit Keswick, Bowness-on-Windermere and the visitors center Brockhole.

On the day of the race you must be at least 18 years old. Prepare yourself well! It is an uncontrolled trail, but a trail that goes through the highest mountain range in England and in itself is very technical and rocky. In wet weather, a large portion of the trail can be slippery. Scafell Pike is listed as the highest point in England so that's another MOSTPOINT Badge that you can add to your profile.
