The Dutch Pieterpad

The Pieterpad is one of the oldest and longest-distance footpaths in the Netherlands with 492 km / 306 mi. This makes it the top MOSTPOINT of the typical Dutch trails. It runs from Pieterburen in Groningen to St-Pietersberg in Maastricht. The trail is divided into 26 stages and can easily be walked in several times. Many take even some years. The path was developed in 1983 by two friends who were inspired by the foreign long distance routes, Toos Goorhuis and Bertje Jens. It is clearly marked by red and white signs. Extensive directions can be obtained in various ways. Pieterpad has a connection to the GR5 that runs from the North Sea to the Riviera in the South of France.
