This competition, considered the hardest of the Canary Islands, is one with an international character and held annually since 2009, having become an icon of Ultra Races in a few years.

It takes place on the most northwestern island of the archipelago, La Palma and counts towards the World Championship Mountain Running. The available modes are: Vertical Kilometer (3.7 mi / 6 km), Mountain Half Marathon (14.9 mi / 24 km) Mountain Marathon (44 km and a cumulative altitude of 16,142 ft / 4,920 m) and Great Mountain Race Long Distance (45.98 mi / 74.6 km and accumulated a height of 26,528 ft / 8,086 m) which is the one you must complete to add this MOSTPOINT to your profile.

The starting point is in the south of the island, the lighthouse of Fuencaliente and the finish line at the Plaza of Spain in Los Llanos, passing through the volcanoes San Antonio, Teneguía (1,440 ft / 439 m) and the Caldera (between 1,969 / 600 and 2,953 ft / 900 m) with its highest point, Roque de los Muchachos (7,960 ft / 2,426 m). The route runs entirely on the two hiking trails GR 130 and the GR 131.

What else is there
La Palma, known as "La Isla Bonita" (The beautiful island) is a peaceful place, inhabited by friendly people who measure distances in time. So to travel from north to south takes about two hours, while about forty five minutes is enough for east to west. Of course considering the countless charming spots that you will find along the way, it may take you a lot more.

It is an island cherished by nature that has been declared a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2002. Here you will find from a network of marked paths of more than 600 mi / 1,000 km in length to ethnographic museums and cultural interest centers.

The historic center of the capital, Santa Cruz de La Palma is well worth a visit, just like the natural pools of La Fajana or El Charco Azul in the north. Also you find small and exotic black sand coves ideal to disconnect from the daily grind.

And of course, you can not go to La Palma without enjoying its privileged starry skies. Its quality is so outstanding that many countries have installed their astronomical observatories there.

Notes
You have to be adult and must have participated during the 18 months prior to the start of the race in at least one mountain race with a minimum distance of 24.85 mi / 40 km at least
